Zeus, a dedicated and loving 9-year-old boxer, is now zooming around in his new wheelchair that was made possible by the overwhelming support of our donors. Zeus suffers from degenerative myelopathy, which has diminished his ability to use his rear legs. His owner is afflicted with cancer and as a result, he was unable to provide Zeus with the wheelchair he desperately needed to become mobile again. Zeus’ family sent this photo and update of their beloved dog, “Thank you so very much for selecting Zeus to receive a wheelchair. He is such a vital part of our family and I know that it will make my husband feel so much better going through his cancer with the knowledge that Zeus is going to be mobile again. He is so excited about being able to take him out for walks which will not only be therapeutic for Zeus, but Joe as well. I cannot express the gratitude that we have.”

Handicapped Pets Foundation recently assisted Diesel the dachshund when he could no longer walk and his owners were struggling to afford the cost of his care. Diesel had the option of a very expensive surgery or a less invasive wait and see approach of using a wheelchair to see if he could regain his mobility. His owners applied to the Handicapped Pets Foundation for assistance with obtaining a doggie wheelchair.
Diesel's family was so grateful for the support of the Handicapped Pets Foundation and recently sent this photo and update, "Diesel loves his new chair. He's even starting to get the feeling back in his rear legs already. Thank you so much!"

UPDATE: Jake has received a wheelchair, and we look forward to posting photos and an update on his progress shortly! Thank you for your generous support!
Jake, a beautiful Rottweiler, was once left abandoned and neglected in an apartment for several days when his first owner died a few years ago. He then survived neglect and a severe case of heartworm before finally joining his forever family that includes two young girls who love Jake dearly.
Jake is now a senior dog that is suffering from a neurological condition which has impacted his mobility. He is not a candidate for surgery and would really benefit from a dog wheelchair so that he can continue to take his daily walks in the woods with his family.
Sadly, Jake's family is struggling to afford the cost of a dog wheelchair and has turned to the Handicapped Pets Foundation for assistance. Please help this lovely and devoted Rottie get rolling with a doggie wheelchair.

Thanks to the support of the Handicapped Pets Foundation, Sasha the cat is now getting around in a brand new wheelchair. Hopefully, with continued physical therapy, Sasha may one day fully recover his mobility. He was rescued from Bulgaria in late 2009 after his previous owners simply abandoned him in the streets. It is unknown what caused Sasha's rear leg paralysis, but when he was first rescued from the streets of Bulgaria and brought to a local veterinarian, he was near death and completely unable to walk on his hind legs.
Sasha's current owner, who was living and working in Bulgaria at the time, decided that he had to reach out and help. He adopted Sasha and worked tirelessly to rehabilitate him. Over the past year, Sasha has required many visits to the veterinarian and a number of medications. While Sasha's owner was able to afford these costs for several months, he has since returned to the United States and is struggling financially as a result of long-term unemployment. Sasha's owner applied for assistance with the Handicapped Pets Foundation and requested a wheelchair to help Sasha walk and to improve his chances of making a full recovery.
The Handicapped Pets Foundation was pleased to be able to offer assistance by donating a wheelchair for Sasha. We are extremely grateful to our financial supporters for their contributions that make these mobility equipment grants possible. There are currently a number of applications under review at the Handicapped Pets Foundation. The number of requests frequently exceeds our ability to provide assistance with a mobility grant. All grants are based on financial need. If you would like to make a contribution to support our efforts to provide mobility equipment to pet owners who are struggling financially, you may make a donation online here or send a contribution made payable and mailed to Handicapped Pets Foundation, 3 Bud Way, Suite 25, Nashua, New Hampshire 03063.

Nugget was abandoned at a veterinarian's office when her family was unable to bear the financial and emotional burden of caring for a handicapped pet. Her veterinarian did not want to give up hope on Nugget and vowed to treat her and find her a new home.
First, Nugget needed a wheelchair to make her mobile again. Without any other means of support to pay for a wheelchair for Nugget, her veterinarian contacted the Handicapped Pets Foundation for assistance.
The Handicapped Pets Foundation was pleased to support the effort to get Nugget rolling again. In addition to getting new wheels, we have also learned that Nugget now has a new family to call her own. Keep on rolling, Nugget!

Eva is a nine month Labrador retriever who was born without fully developed hips. Her veterinarian recommended low impact exercise such as swimming to build Eva's muscles while not bearing too much weight on her weak legs. Since Eva's family does not have a pool, they decided to investigate whether a dog wheelchair could assist Eva. Her veterinarian agreed that it would be a good idea and assist Eva in getting the exercise she needs.
Eva is a faithful companion to her owner - a veteran who recently served two tours in Iraq. Facing financial difficulties and still awaiting compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Eva's owner turned to the Handicapped Pets Foundation for assistance.
The Handicapped Pets Foundation was honored to provide assistance by granting Eva's owner a Walkin' Wheels for Handicapped Pets. Now, she is getting the exercise she needs to maintain strength in her rear legs. Watch Eva take off in her Walkin' Wheels.
The Handicapped Pets Foundation would like to thank its many generous and thoughtful supporters for their contributions to Dot, a guide dog that was forced into early retirement because she was struggling to walk. Dot is now enjoying her retirement with Eve who is a volunteer for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Click here to see a video of her using the Walkin' Wheels for Handicapped Pets!
Eve, who is almost 80 years old, has raised 26 puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Eve had previously cared for Dot from the time she was a puppy until she was old enough to begin her training as a guide dog. Now, after successfully working for seven years as a guide dog, Dot has returned to live with Eve where she has regained her mobility thanks to her Walkin' Wheels dog wheelchair!
Thank you for making Wishbone's wish come true! He is now walking thanks to the support of the Handicapped Pets Foundation. Wishbone was one of several mixed breed puppies in a litter that was surrendered to a local humane society. All of the puppies in the litter were adopted except for Wishbone who was missing his two rear feet. His owners adopted him before he was scheduled to be put to sleep. Wishbone's rear legs were prone to injury because he was dragging himself. His front legs were also beginning to show signs of weakness from the pressure of carrying his full weight.
Miracle has received her mobility Miracle! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! We are so grateful for your support!
Miracle's family asked us to share the following message of gratitude to our supporters of the Handicapped Pets Foundation:
"We have received Miracle's Walkin' Wheels. Attached is a photo of her very first time with her new freedom! As I write this, she has now been in her chair 4 times and is starting to explore the house. She is fighting a battle with herself not to bunny hop, but she has reverse down pat," Miracle's family wrote about her first day.
"We never would have been able to do this without the wonderful help from the Handicapped Pets Foundation and the wonderful people who gave so Miracle could walk again. What a blessing. I will send more photos in the coming weeks. Well, as soon as the rain lets up and we can walk not swim outside. Thank you again everyone for your support."
"Too Cute" Toot has received her new wheels! Thank you to everyone who contributed to her campaign.
Toot, who is simply too cute for words, had outgrown her first set of wheels that were obtained while she was still a growing puppy. Born with a total of five legs, Toot had to have the two smaller, deformed legs amputated when she was only four months old.
Toot was in search of an adult dog wheelchair that would provide support for her remaining front leg that had been weakened by the additional strain of being a tripod without a wheelchair. Toot also had some weakness in one of her rear legs that increased her need for a new, customized dog wheelchair that would take her through her adult life.
Thank you for supporting Tiki! His fundraising campaign was successful, and he has received a new Walkin' Wheels. Tiki's owner was unable to afford the cost of a dog wheelchair and turned to the Handicapped Pets Foundation for assistance. The family who was struggling to survive on a part-time income is now extremely grateful for assistance in getting their Tiki mobile again!
